Emotional eating is a type of eating disorder that affects millions of people around the world it is important to stop emotional eating. An emotional eater is someone who eats because of emotions instead of hunger. A second form of emotional eating is when an individual eats junk food because of a carving. Emotional eating is a harmful type of behavior that can be fatal if left untreated.

 
In order to stop emotional eating one must understand food cravings. Sometimes the strongest carvings for food happen when you are at a weak point emotionally in your life. Many individuals turn to food as a source of nurture or comfort. This can be a conscious or an unconscious type of behavior .Most people will emotionally overeat when faced with a difficult problem. Instead of unwrapping a candy bar when you want comfort you should take a walk or treat yourself to a movie or read or book or call a friend or listen to music to stop emotional eating. Emotional eating is a bad habit that can be broken if one desires to stop emotional eating.
 
In order to stop emotional eating you want to keep healthy foods in the house instead of unhealthy food choices. Avoid having an abundance of unhealthy, high-calorie food in the house when you want to stop emotional eating. When you are feeling depressed or blue you should avoid going grocery shopping as a step to stop emotional eating. Your mood may affect your food choices. If you do want a snack choose something healthy such as an apple or carrot sticks. These are suggestions to help you stop emotional eating.
