Anorexia Bulimia
There was once a girl named Marie that enjoyed going to the food court with her friends and indulging in some fries or a piece of pizza. Just thinking about those times fill her with a sense of dread. Marie no longer has time to hang out with friends. She is always doing cardio or running. When Marie looks in the mirror she doesn’t see the skinny girl starring back but instead she sees a fat person. The scale says that she is losing more and more weight but Marie thinks that she is fat and ugly. Recently, she has had trouble concentrating in school. It seems like she is always tired.
Marie is suffering from an eating disorder like anorexia bulimia. It is estimated that between five and ten million people have an eating disorder such as anorexia bulimia. One percent of teenagers are affected by an eating disorder. The most common type of eating disorder is anorexia bulimia.
Anorexia bulimia has similar characteristics to other eating disorders. People who have anorexia bulimia have an intense fear of becoming fat. A person who suffers from anorexia bulimia will hardly eat at all. When an individual who has anorexia bulimia does eat the small amount of food will cause anxiety. A person with anorexia bulimia will count calories and measure each piece of food that enters their mouth. Many people who suffer from anorexia bulimia will exercise obsessively in an attempt to lose weight rapidly.
Even though a person with anorexia bulimia may be alarmingly thin that person will perceive themselves as fat. A person with anorexia bulimia does not see a thin person. This is a disease that alters a person’s perception. In order to overcome anorexia bulimia an individual must change the way they perceive their body to be.
An individual who suffers from anorexia bulimia will eat a large amount of food. The individual, after eating a lot of food, will either take laxatives or vomit in order to get rid of the food. This type of behavior is commonly known as binge and purge. Oftentimes you cannot tell if a person has anorexia bulimia. A person who suffers from anorexia bulimia may be of average weight.
These disorders are very serious. Thousands of people have died from anorexia bulimia. It is very important to get help if you suffer from either of these disorders. An eating disorder is a lot like an addiction. There are support groups that can help an individual overcome an eating disorder like anorexia bulimia.
